All of that gets put on hold when your 3 month old son gets sick. I’ve heard other parents talk about the pain of seeing your kid get sick, but I had no idea. Needless to say it has been a rough week, but we are coming out of it.
So I’m hitting reset and will start up with my regular schedule on Monday.
There is something I am learning through this, though.
Coming into this week I had a mental to-do list that was causing all sorts of anxiety, something I am predisposed to already. Here I am 5 days or so after we first realized Ike was really sick and much of that list remains undone. There is still much to do, but this pretty awful last week has put some things into their correct place.
It is time to get after the to-do list, but it isn’t time to mentally disengage from what is right in front of me. This reset isn’t an opportunity to relax, it is an opportunity to work but to work on the right things in the right order.
