Marketing genius? Guilt trip? Perspective?

I think it is all three and I give credit to the people at Water is Life for messing with me with this video.

While I am not an expert in marketing I understand a bit about communication, particularly communicating the Gospel. When I read the words of Jesus I see a message that hurts.

It hurts because it shifts my perspective off of myself and towards how things are compared to how they were intended to be. The Gospel is disruptive. Encountering God through Jesus Christ disrupts our lives.

As pastors your job is not to transfer knowledge or mobilize people to accomplish a goal. Your job is to become disrupted and to disrupt others in the process. Allow your life to be changed and then use everything at your disposal to communicate that story.

Even clever videos that sting.
