If you couldn’t tell from the Facebook posts or forced conversations; or if you are starting to miss “normal commercials” then you know we are about a month away from the election.
The research as shown in the above graphic is encouraging if not slightly surprising. I would guess a majority oppose pulpit endorsements but not nearly 90%. As you can probably guess from the Shane Claiborne video and other comments I would agree with the 90%.
It isn’t that I’m being pragmatic and I don’t want churches to pay taxes on contributions.
Nor is it my support of separation of church and state (government involvement/regulation in church sounds great doesn’t it?).
It isn’t because I’m not patriotic or politically minded.
It is because I want nothing to come before the Gospel.
A candidate, political party, or nation is not the hope of the world. That position has already been filled.
Be engage. Vote informed. Stay up all night watching returns.
Just don’t mix your allegiances.
