Rookie Pastors can be antagonistic to older generations leaders. I’ve seen it and felt the notion that an older leader doesn’t understand or care about me. Most of the time it is the pride of the younger leader that is the issue.
Helpful and instructive to see someone explore the different ways a young leader should be led. Generational differences, going either direction, are not a valid excuse for isolation.
Dave DeVries has 7 observations on coaching young leaders. A few that stood out to me:
1. Values are more important than vision.
2. Authenticity is more important than quality.
5. Accountability is found in a community of leaders.
