October Recap

Recently I have been getting a lot of encouragement, not the kind that feeds an ego but the kind that makes me want to keep going. Sometimes I wonder if writing this blog, holding lunch events, connecting with others on Twitter, and in general trying to encourage other Rookie Pastors is worth my time. The words of encouragement makes it worth it.

Thanks.

Here’s some of my favorite posts from October.

Being Told You Can’t and Proving them Wrong

I “met” Justin when he sought me out on Twitter and sent me the link to the video that is embedded in the above post. You have to love the energy and passion that he exudes. His story makes me want to be a better pastor and gives me hope that what we are all doing in ministry is worth it.

Thanks Justin.

Before You Leave

It wasn’t all written in October, but that’s when I finished it. Really proud of this series because I think it deals with issues that Rookie Pastors face but isn’t talked about as much as is needed. No matter what statistic you read leaving a ministry is a common reality and absolutely crucial to get right. A lot of great ministry can be undone by screwing things up on your way out.

Speaking of series I’ve started a new one.

Everybody likes free stuff and because of the generosity of Thomas Nelson Publishers we were able to give away five copies of this book that you need to read. At our lunch events we have been able to put solid resources in the hands of our attenders and I was glad to bring that same idea to the blog.

You also might want to check out my thoughts on the NBA lockout, why my boss wants you to hate his sermon, and why 1500 is a depressing number.

Oh, one last thing. I know you think you are funny but you aren’t.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
