Monday Morning Quick Hits

  • I’m not Reformed and I tend to give my Reformed friends a hard time, but know that I respect your contributions to the larger conversation. Happy Reformation Day!
  • I’m not Emerging either, but I tend to lean more that direction, speaking of: Tony Jones thinks evangelical youth ministry is blame for the formation of the Emerging Church Movement. This blog began as a way to explore the ECM and I have to say I agree with Jones.
  • Some great friends are leaving today on a journey that will take them to Haiti for at least a year. You can read about their story here.
  • If you were going to have a church fantasy draft what role would you draft first? Remember most running backs are more valuable than quarterbacks in fantasy football. Just hoping you don’t view Student Pastors as the kickers.
  • I don’t want anyone to get fired but as a Colts fan it looks to me like the team has quit on Jim Caldwell and it is time for a change. My guess is that he finishes the season and on the first few days of the off season they let him go.
  • I don’t like Halloween because I think there is something demonic or evil about it, just annoying.
  • Not sure who I would vote for in a year but I don’t currently see a GOP candidate I would bet on beating Obama.
  • Occupy Wall Street is an intentionally leaderless movement of people upset about the gross financial inequality in the country, I get it; but how much of that anger is rooted in student loans and credit card debt? It is ridiculous that it does cost so much to go to many universities, and the predatory practices of credit card companies are shameful; but these facts aren’t secrets.
  • Saw this on the Daily Show last week and I can’t stop thinking about it. When did such a distrust of science emerge, and why do evangelicals seem to be propagating it. And yes I realize these interviews are edited.

  1. Agree a lot with you this week…

-Love Tony Jones’ question to the youth ministry professionals. What did you expect?

-There are just more high scoring QBs to go around than top (single backfield) RBs. i’d want the visionary first. big picture is important.

    -Never liked Halloween.

-Obama will stay not because of approval, but because of crappy competition.

-It’s funny how we accept capitalism as God-ordained, when it’s against the very things he was for. Even Michael Moore thinks so…

    • Tony Jones has an edge that I really enjoy.

It is shocking to me how there just doesn’t seem to be a viable option in the GOP and even more shocking people seem to be looking for anyone other than Romney.

Surprised you don’t know that Jesus was a free-market guy.
