The Message is the Medium

If you have read any Marshall McLuhan or Neil Postman or surely any other number of thinkers, then what Shane Hipps has to say will not be new. However if you were like me and you picked up this book by a pastor on the impact of technology, all of this was new.

As of late I have been writing a lot on multi-site and the related issue of increasing the use of video in church services. Much of my concern has its beginnings with the work of Hipps.

Essentially Hipps proposes that how the message is communicated fundamentally changes the message itself. Below is a great introductory video.
